bio
I'm professionally trained and have my Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a major in painting and a minor in printmaking, from the Kansas City Art Institute.
I also studied at Memphis College of Art and minored in graphic communication at St. Louis Community College. My background in non profit arts administration and creating public works with the community keeps my perspective playful. My many years of experience in the deadline filled print and graphic design industry reminds me to appreciate the calm solitude of fine art studio work. I was awarded an art residency in spring at the Rensing Center in South Carolina where I focused on creating artworks from the southern landscape. In the past I was commissioned to create four, 15ft x15ft. boardgames for an advertising campaign by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), a mural located in downtown Kansas City's Bartle Hall Convention Center and murals for several public schools in the Kansas City area. With a strong working background in graphic design and the print industry, I have created unique marketing, community programs and education products for high profile clients. Client list includes: U.S. Department of Education, Unity Worldwide Ministries, Title Boxing Club, KU Medical Center high school mentorship program, the American Jazz Museum and the Kansas City Kansas Housing Authority. I am a recipient of the ArtsKC Fund Inspiration Grant Award and a co-recipient of a Rocket Grant project awarded by Charlotte Street Foundation and the University of Kansas Spencer Museum of Art via funding through Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. |
