About the image:
I wanted to create a real sense of magical whimsey in this one. I love seeing kites flying in the distance. You know someone is near you, your not in a lonely place. If you look really close you will find a few critters resting.
This drawing is my interpretation of the magic that is entangled in the lush foliage, rolling hills and mountains of South Carolina.
I sketched out this image in June of last year while attending an art Residency at Rensing Center in Pickens, South Carolina. A lovely place where I made new friends, shared many dinners and breakfasts, and worked out of a nice sized garage studio on the property.
The landscape surrounding the area is beautiful and while there, my husband and I visited organic farms, hung out with goats, and traveled about to lookout points like this one featured in the drawing.
